Rainbow Connections

Rainbow Connections

During the school year, we offer the Rainbow Connections program during both the 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM services. This program introduces infants, toddlers, and young preschoolers to the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism through sensory exploration, mantra, song, and story. During the 9:30 AM service, children up to the age of six are invited to participate. During the 11:15 AM service, children up to the age of four are invited to participate in the program. Our Rainbow Connections program is staffed by our trained Early Childhood Education professionals.

 Spirit PlayTM

Beginning on September 10, 2017, we offer a weekly SpiritPlayTM program for our pre-k through fifth grade students during the 11:15 AM service. In this program, children explore and apply the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism to their journeys through writing, drawing, story, song, movement, and sensory work. This program uses a Montessori based format to allow children to engage in small group, whole group, and independent exploration opportunities. Our SpiritPlayTM program is led by a team of trained and experienced volunteer educators.

*Fifth graders may feel more at home with our JRYRUU class. Please contact the Director of Lifelong Learning to discuss this option.

Lodestone

JRYRUU-The Lodestone Year

During the school year, our sixth grade through eighth grade students have the opportunity to explore Unitarian Universalist history and begin to identify practices from the UU tradition and variety of other sources that might inform the development of their own individual values and principles. Our JRYRUU volunteer educators cultivate a fun environment for learning with engaging activities, videos, discussions, and occasional field trips throughout the year. This program is perfect for the middle school student who is interested in learning about faith from a general and personal perspective. It sets the stage for a deeper study of multiple religions, traditions, and personal faith practices.

SJ

SRYRUU-A Social Justice Study

Our SR YRUU students are taking time during the 2017-2018 school year to explore social justice elements, actions and practices through the Tapestry of Faith

Social Justice Curriculum. This program uses literary works to create opportunities for in depth discussion around societal oppression and the work that is needed to combat the marginalization of persons in our society. In addition to weekly discussion opportunities, activities that stimulate community involvement and enrichment are provided monthly. Throughout the year, our senior high youth have the opportunity to engage with other youth at UUA sponsored Youth Con events.
