Grow Beloved Community
A world without racism, oppression, poverty, and violence results in Beloved Community. Josiah Royce, philosopher, theologian, and Harvard professor, put forward the concept of “Beloved Community” as an ideal. Civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. later adopted the concept to encompass a practical goal. Dr. King believed “Beloved Community” was achievable through non-violent resistance to all oppression, the result of which could be reconciliation and a world where all individuals can thrive.
We grow the Beloved Community at UUCV and in the world first by attending to the relationships that make our community vital.
