All creatures relate primarily to members of their own species. But we are the most intelligent, civilized and compassionate species on the planet. (Just ask us!)  Given our understanding that we share kinship with billions of other life forms clinging to the strands of the Interdependent Web, we homo sapiens are astonishingly species centric. It’s time to remind ourselves that we are part of a vast community that includes those who do not speak our human language but are nevertheless worthy participants in this noble experiment called Earth.
